Twitter reacts to Rudy Giuliani taking over Trump’s election lawsuit

President Donald Trump has entrusted Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer, with responsibility for his election-related legal battles, according to the New York Times.

Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, made headlines this weekend for his appearance at a Trump campaign press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a small landscaping company in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Philadelphia, rather than the Four Seasons, the luxurious 5 star hotel.

During the event, confused journalists gathered in the company’s parking lot, located between an adult bookstore called Fantasy Land and a crematorium, while Giuliani repeated unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud.

The president mounted a series of legal battles to challenge the election results. Following reports that Giuliani had taken over Trump’s lawsuits, people on Twitter intervened. Some have made not-so-subtle references to the Four Seasons situation.

Some people remembered another viral moment for Giuliani, when Sacha Baron Cohen brought in Giuliani to do an interview with an actress posing as a reporter for her film “Borat 2”.

A clip from this meeting showed Giuliani in a hotel room with the actress, whom he believed to be a journalist, and putting his hand in his pants. He said he was tucking his shirt in, but was mocked online for the incident.

Reports of Giuliani’s takeover came as law firms working on behalf of the president withdrew from election disputes.

The Times reported that Trump transferred the reins to Giuliani after his attorneys dropped a lawsuit in an Arizona county they were unlikely to win.

Advisors to the president have reportedly told Times reporter Maggie Haberman that Giuliani is giving Trump unwarranted optimism about his chances in his election prosecution.

She also reported that the president put Giuliani on speakerphone in the Oval Office on Thursday, while Giuliani criticized Trump’s aides, accusing them of not telling him the truth.

Giuliani did not respond to Business Insider’s request for comment. The Trump campaign and the White House also did not respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
