A tweet resurfaced in May 2017 from House of Commons Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Led to calls for consistency from Twitter as the social media giant continues efforts to quell skeptics over the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Twitter has been at the center of a political storm since it announced Friday that it had banned President Trump from the platform. After slapping Trump’s tweets that challenged President-elect Biden’s victory with various labels and temporarily hanging him up following last week’s riots on Capitol Hill, Twitter said the outgoing president would no longer be welcome.

However, on the eve of Robert Mueller’s appointment as special advisor to investigate allegations of collusion between Russian officials and the 2016 Trump campaign, Pelosi tweeted: “Our election has been hijacked. There is no doubt. Congress has a duty to #ProtectOurDemocracy & # FollowTheFacts. “
Mueller’s investigation ultimately revealed no evidence of collusion and a 2018 Senate Intelligence Committee report that there was no evidence Russia changed the number of votes in the 2016 election.
Critics called on Twitter to respond to Pelosi’s lie related to the 2016 election.

Last week Twitter concluded that allowing Trump to return to Twitter risked “further inciting violence.”
Highlighting two relatively tame tweets from the president, one of which said he would not attend Biden’s January 20 inauguration, the company argued that they needed to be seen in a larger context.
