Now, when Twitter rejects your request for that coveted blue tick, it will be personal. The social media platform on Friday announced plans to provide users with a more detailed explanation of why they haven’t met its verification requirements, instead of just sending out generic rejection emails.

“We have heard your comments that we can be clearer as to why an application was not approved. Decision emails will now give more context on why requests don’t meet our criteria, ”Twitter wrote.

The announcement comes after Twitter relaunched its public verification process in May for the first time since 2017 … and then quickly press pause again after being inundated with verification requests. All the while, Twitter qdiscreetly open the process to certain companies, brands, news organizations, activists and other accounts that it is deemed worthy of a blue check mark.

Twitter said on Friday it was slowly rolling out public access to avoid overwhelming its team, and the ability to apply will soon be available to all users. With that in mind, it strives to make the whole process more transparent, for example by adding additional context to rejection emails.

“[We] I know the generic rejection emails were confusing and frustrating for people, so getting more specific information in the review decision emails was a top priority for our team, ”said B Byrne, Manager Twitter verification product.

Twitter also said it plans to add more explicit guidelines to the app and will continue to incorporate comments on how to make the verification process more user-friendly.

“Patience is not one of the criteria, but we appreciate yours,” Twitter wrote.

So if you (like me) are still among the uncontrollable plebs, look on the bright side! At least Twitter will explain Why you are not worthy of being checked the next time he refuses you.
