Two celebrities unmasked at the premiere of season 2 of "The Masked Singer"

The masked singer is back to scramble our cerebellum again – perhaps even more, as the clues of this season are harder than ever. But a mysterious competitor who got shoved early was the Egg, for example, Johnny Weir. The egg cracked under the pressure, so to speak, and literally had an egg (streaked) on the face, when Weir became the first celebrity to be excluded from the series in the premiere of season 2 of Wednesday.

Weir gave two vivid and easy performances – his sassy cover of Blondie was not a yellow! – But his chances were quickly spoiled when he faced the rising vocal butterfly and the meticulous skeleton comic scenario. Well, at least the egg will not need to walk on eggs to keep its identity secret.

The other competitor to have a merger at night 1 was Ice Cream, a player of superstar Tyler "Ninja" Blevins. Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger, judges of the masked singer, put the show on an extreme diabolical diet this week, eliminating the two competitors on the subject of food.

Ice Cream's "Old Town Road" cover was cool, and he really enjoyed it during his second and best performance of Devo's "Whip It", but he was completely clear when he faced the glitter of Christmas of the tree and the spotless performance of the Ladybug. Well, at least the eggs and ice cream (or the egg cream, if you like Bennifer's mashups) have perma smiles on their polymer faces.

OK, OK, excuses for all widespread abuse. Obviously, a show that begins dramatically with Nick Cannon shouting, "It's time to get weird!" While he comes out of the mouth of a mask the size of a Wall, Mr. Roboto / Hanacare, all dressed up as a Morris Day, attending a masked ball is not something to be taken too seriously. That being said, producers are not playing this season.

SHOW CAPTION

After realizing that most viewers have access to Google and Wikipedia, they've made the USA's most damn guessing game a lot more challenging, with tighter "military" security packages and more vague clues. . Last season I had already won the Yahoo desktop pool the third week, guessing each competitor correctly … but season 2 is maybe my Waterloo.

While I thought the egg was a weir pulled from a snowball index; lines on "aiming for gold", "egg-stra" and "enjoying a good luster"; and the fact that her first performance was Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" (Weir has already skated on many Gaga hits in the past), the case of ice cream is much colder. "

But even if the season of masked singers has more to swallow the brain, there is also much more to dazzle the eyes. After being totally stolen from this month's Creative Arts Emmy in the Costuming Outstanding category (the only time in my life where I've rooted out against RuPaul's Drag Race winner), the show is back with personalized costumes that give your outfits last year something outside the clearance range of November 1 at the Spirit of Halloween big box store.

While eight more costumes will be unveiled next week in the second part of the first of the season, I think The Masked Singer has already won the Emmy 2020 thanks to the Aeon Flux style of Butterfly, the twinkle of Tim Burton-Vegas, and Lisa Frank's magnificent pile of rainbow garlands resembling Cousin It, the tree. (By the way, I'd wear this Tree outfit all the way to all my vacation parties this year.)
