Police opened an investigation after two children and two adults were found dead Tuesday morning in a Cleveland neighborhood.
Between 8am and 9am, Cleveland police received a call about a man "in a field" in the Slave Village neighborhood, said Chief Calvin D. Williams at a brief press conference. The man was declared dead on the scene.
The agents who responded received "additional information" and went to a nearby house, according to Williams. The police forced their way into the house after smelling smoke and found the bodies of a woman and two children.
Williams did not say if the man is related to the wife and children and refused to discuss the cause of death. WKYC, an affiliate of NBC in Cleveland, said the man had been shot.
Their identities will not be revealed until their family members are notified, Williams said.
"Our hearts and condolences go to those families who have been touched by this," he said.
The authorities have several people of interest and ask anyone with information to contact the police.
