Two coaches cleaned up the memorial of a boy who died of cancer after two adults were arrested for damaging him.

But yesterday, two local coaches, Paul Burgan and Desmond Walker, mobilized to clean and "disinfect" the memorial. On Facebook, they posted photos while they were removing the plaque near a playground in Mays Landing, New Jersey, a town located about 50 km southeast of Philadelphia.

The stone monument on the playground pays tribute to Christian Clopp, who died in 2012 at the age of nine. The marker said Christian was "a child who made the world a better place through his courage, his faith, his smile, his laughter and his love for others".

Burgan and Walker are both in their thirties and have been coaching junior football for over ten years.

Walker told CNN that he saw a video on social media yesterday around 4 pm it showed a young man urinating on the memorial at Underhill Park at Mays Landing, where he and Burgan often arranged their football training.

"I could not imagine what the parents of Christian lived"

Walker said the video had made him "emotional" and "smothered." He said that he was a father of two and "could not imagine what Christian's parents were living."

He called Burgan, asking him to come help him clean the mess. Burgan says, "Absolutely, brother."

They hoped that beyond just washing the marker, "something good could come out of it," said Walker.

They also help spread the word about an event honoring Clopp's life and legacy, called Christian's Bubble Brigade, Thursday afternoon at the park. "The community has been united," said Burgan.

"For the Clopp family, we support you, we are here for you, and if we can avoid it, we will never let something like this happen again under our watch," wrote Burgan on Facebook.

The man who urinated on the grave and the one who filmed it will face criminal charges, including disorderly behavior, criminal mischief and having an open liquor, reports KYW.
