At least two people were killed and one person was lost after a small plane crashed into a home in New York on Saturday, causing a major fire, officials said.
Police captain of the State of New York, Paul DeQuarto, said at a press conference that the plane crashed around 4:30 pm. in the rural town of Union Vale, about 15 km southeast of Poughkeepsie.
"It's a very sad and tragic event that happened tonight," DeQuarto told the press.

State police spokesman Steven Nevel said three men were in the plane. one died and two were injured. Of three people at home, one is dead, another has been seriously injured and the third is missing.
According to state police, the names of the victims would not be disclosed until family members were notified.

A neighbor told WTEN-TV that a "very beautiful" family of four lived at home – a mother, a father and two daughters.
"A neighbor's husband helped one of the girls escape from the house after the plane crashed," said a neighbor on television who did not want to be identified.
State police spokesman Steven Nevel told The Associated Press that two Golden Retriever puppies and a Newfoundland Newfoundland dog had escaped the flames that had ravaged the home. from South Smith Street, Union Vale.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced that the Cessna 303 was leaving LaGrangeville's Sky Acres Airport, one kilometer from the crash, to get to Republic Airport in East Farmingdale on Long Island.
DeQuarto said at a press conference that the plane had taken off from the Orange County Airport in Montgomery, New York State, and then went off. was stopped to refuel at Sky Acres Airport, 40 km, before continuing to Long Island.
DeQuarto added that the Cessna had some sort of engine problem before hitting the side of the two-story house, but he did not have any other details.
The National Transportation Safety Board said on Twitter that it was investigating the accident.
