The Octagon returns to Windy City with a stacked fight card including two fights for the title, a much anticipated lightweight bout that could produce one of the best fights of the year, and nine fights in total opponent of classified fighters.
In the main event, the vacant UFC soft weight championship is up for grabs as UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo hopes to become a two-division champion when he faces Marlon Moraes. Cejudo beat TJ Dillashaw in a fight for the flyweight title in January. He is expected to face Dillashaw for the 135-pound title until Dillashaw is stripped of his title due to a failed drug test. In stages, Moraes launches a challenge for the championship. He is in a four-game winning streak in which he has completed his last three bouts in the first round.
In the main co-event, the UFC Women's Flyweight Championship is in play, while the champion, Valentina Shevchenko, defends challenger Jessica Eye. Shevchenko defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the title in December and defends herself for the first time against Eye, who has won three consecutive victories since her fall to 125 pounds last year.
Still on the main card, in the most anticipated fight of the evening, Tony Ferguson hopes to extend his series of 11 victories when he faces Donald Cerrone, who just defeated Al Iaquinta a little over a month ago. The winner of this fight would likely be the next player to compete in the UFC Lightweight Championship. Other battles on the main map include a fight between the well-heights between Jimmie Rivera and Petr Yan, and a fight against heavyweights between Tai Tuivasa and Blagoy Ivanov.
The preliminary card is also stacked with ranked fighters, crowned by a potentially eliminating title fight in the women's straw division, while Tatiana Suarez consolidates her undefeated record against Nina Ansaroff. In addition, the well-heights Aljamain Sterling and Pedro Munhoz will try to show their next opponent at 135 pounds and the former rival Karolina Kowalkiewicz, will want to return to the column of victories against Alexa Grasso in the weight of women's straw.
