A fishing bag belonging to one of the two firefighters who never returned Friday after a fishing trip off the coast of Florida was found Monday during a massive search conducted by several agencies.

Brian McCluney, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, and Justin Walker, Firefighter from Fairfax, Virginia, were last seen leaving a dock near Port Canaveral on a fishing boat 24 feet, according to the US Coast Guard. They were missing because they did not return home Friday night as planned.

McCluney's wife, Stephanie Young McCluney, wrote on Facebook Monday that the search teams had found her husband's fishing bag about 50 miles off the coast of St. Augustine, more than 100 miles north of Port Canaveral. The Coast Guard confirmed that a volunteer had found a bag.

"I honestly believe it's a word of order," he threw into the sea to say "we're here, come find us," wrote the young McCluney. "I stand firm face to face in prayer and be our Lord and our Savior leading our way."

Coast Guard, Navy, Air and Marine Operations, US Customs and Border Protection, Florida Fish and Wildlife Protection Agency, Brevard County Sheriff's Office and more than 100 volunteers joined the research with crews in the water on the coast.

The coastguard said Monday that the search had hitherto covered 46,800 square miles in 108 hours.

By Monday alone, more than 135 volunteers, including dozens of firefighters, traveled 5,000 km 2, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Service. The ministry urged the public to report any debris sightings to the Coast Guard and asked those who could not help with the research to donate to support efforts to locate the two men.

"I saw the incredible support of these two men's families on social media," said Jesse Wozniak, Jacksonville's Director of Air and Marine Operations. "Many people work to find them and pray for their safety."

"Friends, family and public safety professionals are working hard," Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said. "While they work, pray, prayer is powerful."
