Two flu deaths in Monroe County

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) – A second influenza-related death this season has been recorded by the Monroe County Department of Health.

According to a preliminary report, as of February 16, there were more than 1,800 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases, with 224 hospitalizations.

The first death was reported earlier this month. The Ministry of Health said that this individual was between 50 and 64 years old.

The second death recorded was reported in a person over 85 years old.

At about the same time last year, 11 deaths had been reported, more than 800 had been hospitalized and more than 4,400 laboratory-confirmed cases.
