Two men with parachutes jump from a hotel roof in Nashville

Hotel security told police two men approached the ledge of the rooftop bar on the 25th floor of the hotel on Friday night and jumped out of it, according to a Metro police incident report. Nashville.

When the men jumped up, the bar patrons started screaming and there was a “massive panic”, according to the police report. Witnesses looked over the edge of the building and saw the two men parachuting down the road to an adjacent parking lot. Once they landed, they got into a parked car and drove off, according to the report.

BASE jumping is an extreme sport and BASE is an acronym for building, antenna, span, and land. Unlike paratroopers, who parachute out of airplanes, BASE jumpers practice their sport from fixed points such as skyscrapers, cliffs or bridges.

Hotel security told police they believed the men may have been guests at the hotel and, according to the report, video of the incident was provided to police. The identity of the men is unknown.

The rooftop bar is open to hotel guests and local guests. The hotel chain confirmed that the two men were hotel guests in a statement.

“The hotel immediately engaged the local authorities, and the guests were then expelled and banned from the hotel,” the statement said. “We vehemently condemn this kind of reckless behavior, and further questions regarding this situation can be directed to the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department.”
