State officials have reported that, if approved, a limited number of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine could be allocated to the state as of the week of December 13.

New quarantine options were noted during the press conference. Officials said without testing, the quarantine can end after 10 days if no symptoms have developed. With the tests, the quarantine can end after seven days if the test results are negative and no symptoms have developed. For both options, people should continue to self-monitor for symptoms and use preventative measures like wearing a mask for 14 days.

State officials said the three-week postponement on youth sports will end on Monday, December 7.

“While young people seem to be less likely to suffer from serious complications from the virus, our biggest concern is that young people can pass the virus to people at higher risk,” said director of health Pat Lopez. “We’ve seen this kind of spread associated with the sport and our community in Nebraska and other states.”

Beginning Monday, those who organize, supervise or supervise extra-articular group activities from Kindergarten to Grade 12, as well as the facilities that host these activities, are now required to submit an extracurricular activity plan to the Department of health.

The plan should include the following:

  • Specific actions to reduce the risk of spread, including disease surveillance, exclusion, masking and physical distancing. As well as cleaning and disinfection plans.
  • Plans to communicate the COVID-19 process and procedures to all affected parties.
  • Strategies to ensure that everyone is wearing masks and that physical distance is maintained during workouts and reps.
  • Information on how the seats will be managed to comply with DHM requirements.
  • How attendance records will be kept.
  • How will individuals be notified in the event of exposure to COVID-19.
