Two members of the National Guard tasked with occupying Washington, DC prior to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden have been removed from the mission after being found to have ties to fringe right-wing militias, the AP reported on Tuesday. The report did not indicate which state the Guardsmen belonged to, or with which militia they were allegedly involved. On Monday, Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said there was “no intelligence indicating an insider threat” at Wednesday’s dedication ceremony, but added law enforcement would monitor National Guard personnel.
