The MacBook Pro with M1 – a durable and lightning-fast evolution from the Intel version released earlier this year – was just the tip of Apple’s silicon history.
As CNBC reports, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo points to not one but two redesigned MacBook Pros, but the biggest questionable news is that Apple plans to make the MacBook Air more affordable.
The new MacBook Pros are expected to arrive in 2021, while the cheaper MacBook Air is scheduled for 2022.
Kuo didn’t say how much more affordable the new MacBook Air would be, but we’ve long expected that Apple could drop a MacBook Air that is at least $ 100 or $ 200 less than its current model at $ 999. Now that Apple has left Intel out of the MacBook production process, it owns more of the overall supply chain.
Kuo also didn’t detail how Apple will change the look of the MacBook Pro, but we’re thrilled nonetheless. Apple has kept the same general design for the MacBook Pro since the 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina display. In 2016, the move to Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports enabled a thinner MacBook Pro. macOS Big Sur has added an iOS-style control center, which some say resembles Apple’s readiness for a touchscreen Mac, which the company has long avoided.
These laptops, according to Kuo (one of Apple’s most trusted and respected prognosticators) will be “among the first” along with the long-rumored mini LED displays for Apple laptops.
While Apple’s MacBook Pro and Air had some really good displays, it’s a category – alongside the general design of Apple laptops – that has more or less remained the same for a long time now.
Mini LED technology helps improve contrast and overall brightness, and potentially add more categories of HDR support to Apple laptops. Which makes a lot of sense, if only for Apple’s internal content: Its Apple TV Plus shows support 4K HDR and Dolby Vision, and so we’re not surprised that the company wants its shows to be too. beautiful on its own laptops that they appear on the best televisions.
Last year, Kuo predicted that we would see an iPad Pro LED mini in the third quarter of 2020, which did not happen.
