A Queens man shot two police officers responding to a domestic violence call on Tuesday, prompting them to retaliate and kill him, police said.

The man, whose name has not been released by authorities, opened fire on police at around 12:45 p.m. at his home on Jamaica’s 179th Street near Kennedy International Airport, police said . He died at the scene.

The officers were both injured, one in an arm and the other in the leg, but they had to survive, police said. They were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment, according to firefighters.

Mayor Bill de Blasio was briefed on the shooting and went to hospital, a spokesperson said on twitter.

Video taken by cellphone by passers-by at the scene showed police officers storming the street and installing a yellow crime scene tape near a row of two-story houses as a small crowd stood on the other across the street.
