Police captured two men in connection with the fatal shooting of an Arkansas officer during a car stop Thursday night, including the suspect who is accused of opening fire, according to officials and a report
Officers and agents of the US Marshals Service, Arkansas State Police and other law enforcement partners captured Latarius Howard, also known as “LT Truitt,” and a second person in Mississippi, Arkansas State Police confirmed to local news outlet WREG on Friday. Morning. Howard was arrested in Bolivar County and charged with capital murder, according to subsidiary WHBQ-TV.
Meanwhile, Bruce Hilie, 24, who was with Howard at the time, was accused of obstructing the apprehension, the branch report said.
Helena-West officers Helena pulled over an SUV Thursday night when Howard, 29, got out and opened fire, hitting a policeman who later died in a hospital, according to Police Chief James Smith.
The agent’s name was not immediately disclosed.

Smith said a second officer at the scene was not injured as Howard fled in the city vehicle about 100 miles east of Little Rock.
It was not clear whether police responded and police did not immediately return a phone call for comment on Friday.

Howard was wanted in a November 1 assault and shooting that injured a man in Helena-West Helena.
