Two people were injured when a male elk attacked a woman in Estes Park, Colorado, said a state park official.
The video shows a woman thrown to the ground and stung with bullwood, said Jason Clay, spokesperson for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Thursday morning's attack took place near the city's visitor center.
"She came out miraculously unhurt," Clay said. "She had some scratches, she was not transported and did not need medical attention."
A man, seen in video, jumping aside, slipped and banged his head against a rock, but was not in contact with the wild animal, said Clay. The unidentified man was hospitalized in an unknown state.
The confrontation took place two days before the city's annual Elk festival, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Clay said the video-captured observers were too close to the animals, especially during the breeding season, when bulls can confront each other when they discover territories with females, called cows.
He said that another bull could have approached at the time, causing the attack.
Estes Park, adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, is approximately 70 miles north-northwest of Denver.
