Two planes cut wings in the snow at Newark Airport

Two planes cut their wings Saturday morning at Newark Airport, leaving 242 passengers with delayed or re-booked travel plans, officials said.

Flight 6 from the southwest, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, had been thawed at approximately 0730 and began taxiing at Terminal A when his left wing flanked the tail of Flight 3133 from Southwest to Nashville, Tennessee destination has removed the ice, according to the airline and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The two planes were brought to the gates and no one was injured, the airline said.

The 140 passengers of Flight 6 will be placed in a new plane, which should take off about five hours late. Flight 3133 was canceled and the 102 passengers were rebooked on other flights departing from Newark and LaGuardia.

"It looks like my Florida vacation will actually be at Newark Airport because my @Southwest plane has just been hit by another plane on the tarmac," Bryan Rogers tweeted.

Both planes are out of service for review, confirms Southwest.

"There is no greater priority for us than security and we thank our customers for their understanding while we apologize for their delay in their journey," the airline said in a statement.
