Two Spirit Airlines workers were injured, while two passengers were arrested and a third cited at Detroit Metro Airport on Sunday evening after a scuffle broke out in the boarding area.
The brawl occurred during a dispute over the size of the passenger’s hand luggage.
“Three passengers attacked our agents without provocation,” Spirit said in a statement.

The incident occurred as passengers boarded flight 646 from Detroit to Atlanta.
The scuffle began after officers at the gate asked passengers to confirm their carry-on baggage was the correct size for the aircraft cabin.
Just as officers were trying to calm the situation, staff members tried to calm her down but were assaulted when they closed the doors to prevent boarding.
One of the airline workers was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The gate officers ended up on the ground and at least one had to be taken to hospital
“At Spirit, we all wish the officers a speedy recovery and thank them for their courage and professionalism,” Spirit said in a statement.
“We also thank the police for responding quickly and for arresting those involved in the attack.
“This violent behavior is totally unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business.
“ We will not tolerate any abusive behavior of any kind and these passengers will be barred from all future travel with Spirit. ”
