DEVELOPMENT: Tyler Johnson, Ohio State Sr. and Dayton native, isn’t just fast, he’s fast.

Johnson was the star of the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded today in Geneva, Ohio. He won the 200-meter and 400-meter and helped the Ohio State 4 × 400-meter relay team take the top spot as well.

His 400-meter time in 45.07 seconds broke the Big Ten indoor championship record by a quarter of a second and is the fastest in the country this season.

Overall, the men’s team finished 3rd while the women finished 8th.

Also note:

  • Allie Guagenti was 3rd in the 3,000 meters with a personal best 9: 17.43 and a new Ohio state record (she destroyed her previous best time of 13 seconds)

  • Adelaide Aquilla defended her shot put title with a 17.7m / 58-1 throw, narrowly missing her personal best.

  • Clarence Foote-Talley achieved the 7th best triple jump in the country; a career record of 16.26m / 53-4 1/4.

  • Nick Miller, Cameron Cooper and Frank Hayes were third, fourth and fifth in the 800.

  • Robby Oswald was 3rd in the pole vault with a 5.25m / 17-2 3/4 jump.

  • Real rookie Marcia Sey took 3rd place in the 60m hurdles with a personal best of 8.27.
