Tyler Mahle puts an end to the Dodgers 'offense in the Reds' 4-0 win

Tyler Mahle is a very good pitcher, whose youth suggests that he still has plenty of time to continue to become a serious cog in the Cincinnati Reds rotation for years to come.

That said, it was a bit unlikely that what Mahle won Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mahle came into play with a 4.80 career EPM in his home debut, as well as a .977 OSP allowed to left-handed batters. Meanwhile, the Dodgers stacked their best league total with six-handed left-handers, resulting in trouble for right-handed Reds, 24, on paper. So, of course, Mahle closed them completely, shooting 6 innings of 4 shots, 2 balls, 5 balls out of 5K on 98 shots. He effectively worked on both sides of the plate and held the powerful Dodger bats at a significantly lighter touch than they showed at Friday night's power party.

• The Reds debuted in the table with Winker throwing a fast ball Walker Buehler over the wall in CF. A solo shot which, I believe, took place at the 10th launch of a disputed bout. The Reds led 1-0.
• Consecutive games by Tucker Barnhart and Nick Senzel opened the bottom of third base, leaving runners 1B and 2B to Joey Votto at SS Corey Seager. The Seager 6-4-3 doubled 2B, allowing Barnhart to score and score and leave Senzel 3B with Votto on 2B and tied. Eugenio Suarez came out and Winker then made us nervous that the Reds would not want to cash in, but Puig managed a huge single with two ribbies in CF to give the Reds a 4-0 lead. • The Dodgers have not managed to get an extra base shot for the third time of the season.
• It will be a pair of veterans on the mound for the Sunday rubber match that will follow today's game against the 24-year-old starters.
