Atlanta’s roads were packed with traffic on Sunday as people waited until 4 p.m. in their cars to claim a free box of Thanksgiving food donated by billionaire actor and movie studio owner Tyler Perry.
Perry, 51, was donating boxes full of holiday supplies to those in need, as well as gift cards, Fox 5 reported in Atlanta.
Inside the cans were cans of cranberry food and sauce, cans of corn muffin mix, and a $ 25 voucher.
The food ran out by 10 a.m., and those who missed the 5,000 boxes but made it to the front of the line by noon received a $ 50 voucher.

“While we want to be able to feed everyone in need, we will close the line for the 5,000th family,” read a description of the charity event.
The giveaway was meant to only run from 8 a.m. to noon, but intense demand meant some people lined up their cars the night before in hopes of getting a box of non-perishable goods.
Jeanette Walton, was the first person to line up her car, and she arrived at 3 p.m. on Saturday, 3 p.m. before departure, just to make sure she wouldn’t go home empty-handed.
“I was lucky where my job allowed me to work from home, but other members of my family still lost their jobs and had to move in,” she said. “That’s really what I’m here for because when you have to shoulder the burden of others, you find yourself in need.
