Tyson Chicken Recall: Close to 12 Million Pounds of Chicken Strips on Possible Metal Contamination

Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling about 11.8 million pounds of frozen and ready-to-eat chicken strips, fearing that the products in question will be contaminated with metal, food safety officials said Saturday. The company is developing on a previous reminder of more than 69,000 pounds of chicken thongs in March, said the Inspection Department and Food Safety Department of the United States Department of Agriculture in a statement.

The agency investigated the problem after receiving two consumer complaints about "foreign materials" in Tyson chicken thong products. Tyson extended the recall after receiving additional complaints about metal fragments found in the chicken. In total, six complaints were lodged, three of which alleged oral prejudice.

The recalled products were manufactured in a single location between October 1, 2018 and March 8, 2019. They bear the number "P-7221" on the back of the product packaging and a consumption deadline of January 1, 2018. October 2019 to March 7th. , 2020.

"It is unacceptable to Tyson Foods that any product does not meet our standards and because of these new consumption reports, we have decided to take this precautionary measure to ensure we meet our own expectations and those of consumers," said Barbara Masters, vice president of regulatory policy for food, nutrition and agriculture at Tyson.

Tyson has published an expanded list of its recalled products, including not only Tyson products, but also Ahold, Kirkwood, Best Choice, Food Lion, Giant Eagle, Great Value, Hannaford, Meijer, Publix and Sparetime.

The agency advised anyone affected by an injury or illness to contact a health care provider.
