Tyson Foods, Inc. recalls products made from chicken strips due to possible foreign body contamination

NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: This release is the subject of an extension of the recall of March 21, 2019, consisting of 69,093 pounds of frozen and ready-to-eat chicken strips. The scope of this recall reminder now includes more information and 11,760,424 more pounds of product.

WASHINGTON, May 4, 2019 – Tyson Foods, Inc., a facility in Rogers, Arkansas, recalls approximately 11,829,517 million pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken stripe products that may be contaminated with foreign materials, particularly chunks. of metal. and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

Frozen and ready-to-eat chicken strips were produced at different dates from October 1, 2018 to March 8, 2019 and have "expiry dates" from October 1, 2019 to March 7, 2020. The chart contains a list of products subject to recall .[View Labels (PDF only)]

Recalled products are marked with the establishment number "P-7221" on the back of the product packaging. These items have been shipped to Department of Defense sales outlets and departments nationally, for institutional purposes, as well as to the US Virgin Islands.

The problem was discovered when FSIS received two consumer complaints about foreign material contained in the chicken strips. FSIS is now aware of six complaints during this period regarding similar metal parts and three others concerning oral injuries.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely performs recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling companies are notifying their recall customers and that steps are being taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
