ST. GEORGE – The chicken-based products of two different companies are recalled due to possible foreign contamination, as well as erroneous allergens and undeclared allergens.

The US Department of Agriculture announced recalls Friday for frozen food products manufactured by Tyson Foods Inc. and P.F. Mark of Chang's home menu.

Tyson recalls about 12 million pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strips that may have been contaminated with foreign materials, such as pieces of metal, according to a USDA recall announcement.

The USDA Food Inspection and Safety Service discovered the problem after receiving consumer complaints about pieces of metal in the chicken product. The inspection department is now aware of six complaints.

The products being recalled will carry the P-7221 facility number on the back of the package. Images of the product packaging can be viewed here.

Those who have purchased these products are urged not to eat them. These products must be discarded or returned to the seller. If you are worried about an injury or illness, contact your health care provider.

According to the recall announcement, Conagra Brans Inc. is recalling nearly 2 million pounds of frozen entrees because of a poor brand and undeclared allergen. The recalled product contains milk, a known allergen that has not been declared on the product label.

The Thai Chicken Pad and Chang Chicken Fried Rice are the two recalled products and will carry the "EST" establishment number. P-115 "on the back of the package. Images of the product packaging can be viewed here.

According to a press release relating to the recall, no adverse effects resulting from the consumption of these products has been confirmed. However, if you are worried about an illness or injury resulting from the consumption of these products, you should contact your health care provider.

The inspection service urges all people who have these products in their freezer to throw them away or return them to the seller.
