WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTHR) – Tyson Foods is recalling 190,757 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken fritters because they could be contaminated with hard plastic.

The US Department of Agriculture announced the recall late Friday night.

Frozen ready-to-eat chicken fritters were produced on February 28, 2019. The following products are likely to be recalled:

  • 32.81 lb cases containing four 8.2 lb. bags of "FRITTERS-CN CRISPY CHICKEN BREAST CHEST FULLY COATED ENTIRELY GRAIN-CN" and case code 0599NHL02.

The products being recalled carry the P-1325 factory number inside the USDA inspection mark.

The recalled items were shipped to institutional foodservice establishments nationwide and were not packaged for retail sale.

Tyson informed the USDA of three consumer complaints from schools regarding foreign materials contained in breaded chicken donuts. Tyson distributed the donuts to schools during commercial sales and did not provide the donuts to the USDA for its national school meal program.

No confirmed cases of adverse effect in the recalled donuts have been reported.

The USDA is concerned that some donuts are found in food service freezers. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
