With the risk of the Delta variant looming globally and the COVID-19 pandemic still strong, disney parks can’t risk employees getting sick and making the summer tourist hordes sick like, so now the Walt Disney Company is demanding that American employees be vaccinated in order to return to work.

A press release given by the company reads as follows:

“At The Walt Disney Company, the safety and well-being of our employees during the pandemic has been and continues to be a top priority. To this end, and based on the latest recommendations from scientists, health officials, and our own healthcare professionals that the COVID-19 vaccine provides the best protection against serious infections, we require all hourly employees employees and non-union members in the United States working at any of our sites be fully vaccinated.

Employees who are not already vaccinated and who are working on-site will have 60 days from today to complete their protocols and all employees still working at home will be required to provide a vaccination check before their return, with a few exceptions. . We have also started discussions on this subject with the unions representing our employees within the framework of collective agreements. In addition, all new recruits should be fully vaccinated before starting work. Vaccines are the best tool we all have to help control this global pandemic and protect our employees. “

Disney has yet to say whether this would apply to park visitors as well. According to Theme entertainment association, the average number of daily Disney World attendees this year is 57,000 at Magic Kingdom; 38,000 at Animal Kingdom; 34,000 to Epcot; and 31,000 at Hollywood studios. That’s a much smaller number of people than before COVID, but still a significant crowd for parks that are not operating at full capacity. With big studios like Netflix require employees to be vaccinated to work on productions, we also hope that Walt Disney Pictures will have the same mandates as those of the parks.
