The number of rich and wealthy world continued to rise last year, thanks to the recovery of stock markets and rising real estate prices.
According to a study by the Swiss Federal Bank UBS and PricewaterhouseCoopers, the wealth of the richest people in the world increased by 19% in 2016 compared to 2016, reaching $ 8,900 billion in 2016.
The study, released Friday, showed that 2,358 men and women were rich, while the world's richest had reached 79 billionaires a year earlier.
The study included the total value of wealth, such as business, corporate investment, private property and art funds, according to the German news agency.
In March, Forbes magazine released its annual list of the world's richest people for the year 2018, with American Jeff Bezos, president of Amazon, topping the list with an estimated wealth at $ 112 billion.
Microsoft's founder, Bill Gates, came in second with $ 90 billion, followed by investor Warren Buffett with $ 84 billion, French businessman Bernard Arnault with $ 72 billion of dollars and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg with $ 71 billion.
But Bloomberg said in a July report that Zuckerberg's rating had reached third place with $ 81.6 billion.
An Oxfam International report revealed last year that only eight billionaires in the world had a wealth equal to that of the poorest half of the world's population, according to estimates of $ 426 billion.
