Magda El Roumi returns to the Egyptian Opera at the Arab Music Festival

CAIRO (Reuters) – After 15 years of absence, the Lebanese Magda el-Roumi is performing again at the Egyptian Opera at the 27th Arab Music Festival and Conference in November.

Founded in 1992, the festival is the oldest Arab music festival dedicated to the renaissance of musical heritage. He is dedicated to introducing new talents in singing and singing and attracts the most beautiful voices of inner and outer Egypt.

Festival director Jihan Morsi said Monday at a press conference that Magda Al Roumi would pay tribute to the closing ceremony of the festival on November 12 with the Cairo Opera Orchestra led by Nader Abbasi.

The Lebanese singer has given concerts in Egypt in recent years, as part of charity or private parties.

The festival begins on November 1 and includes 43 singers and performers from eight countries – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Tunisia, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain and Jordan.

Among the most prominent singers are Tunisian Latifa, Lebanese Asi Helani, Saudi Rami Abdullah, Iraqi Hammam Ibrahim, Bahrain Wahid Al Khan, Egypt Mohamed El Helou, Medhat Saleh, Eman El Bahr Darwish, Hani Shaker, Mohamed Tharwat, Marwa Nagy and Sabreen El Negeeli.

The performances will be presented in large and small opera theaters, the theater of the republic, the theater of the Institute of Arab Music, the opera of Alexandria, the opera from Damanhour and the cultural center of Tanta.

Majdi Saber, president of the Egyptian Opera and president of the festival, said at the press conference that the festival will honor 17 personalities who "have helped enrich the artistic life in Egypt and the Arab world".

Names include Saudi singer Abd El-Rab Idris, Egyptian singer Samir Al-Iskandarani, music researcher Habib Zahir al-Abbas, Lebanese musician Halim Roumi, late Egyptian musician Michel El Masry and Egyptian violinist Saad Saad Mohamed Hassan.

Saber pointed out that the twenty-seventh session of the festival was dedicated to the Egyptian actress and actress Shadia.

In parallel with the festival, 42 researchers from 16 countries will participate in the Conference on Arab Music. The themes of "Arab music, between Arab reality and international", "The horizon of the teaching of Arab music between Arab reality and international", "And internationally).

The Arab Music Festival also includes an exhibition on the arts of calligraphy entitled "Arabic Calligraphy" and another entitled "Reflections", which includes works of art.
