TOKYO (Reuters) – Toyota said Thursday it recalled 600,000 cars due to airbag problems in a new blow to the Japanese automaker, which has since made two massive calls since September due to other problems.

The company said in a statement that the cars targeted by the recall decision are divided into two parts: the first includes one million and 60,000 cars, the vast majority in Europe and the second 600,000 less than half of the old continent.

The statement said that the first part of the cars called was made up of the majority of companies Avensis and Corolla, the vast majority (946,000 cars) in Europe, stressing that the problem faced by these cars necessitated the replacement of the airbag system.

The second part of the cars that the owners had been invited to carry in the 600,000 cars of the company, including 255,000 in Europe, had already been taken into account in the previous recall decisions and now suffer from a problem of airbag placed in front of the passenger seat.

Toyota has been used to making vehicle recall decisions and has pursued a stricter policy, as its vehicles in the United States, in 2009 and 2010, have experienced gas pedal problems and brake delays.
