WASHINGTON – Despite the losses caused by the killing of old phones by Apple, the US giant has transferred the iPhone and iPhone 8 phones to the list of victims of the measure, which aims to extend the life of the battery.

On Tuesday, Apple launched a new update of its operating system, leaving a clue on its support pages, stating that it had begun to run the performance for iPhone and iPhone 8, as well as on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus phones, which had already slowed down.

The new system update "IOS 12.1" prevents older phones from operating at the usual speed.

Apple says that this helps preserve the battery life, especially that of older phones, stating that the phone can be turned off abruptly if it is used frequently.

This slowdown comes from Performance Management, which was removed from the iPhone 6 on the iPhone 7 Plus.

Users of the iPhone X and earlier models may disable Performance Management if they feel that their phones are running slower than usual.

To do this you have to go to "Settings", then click on "Battery" and then choose "Battery Health".

Then select "Maximum Performance Capacity" and disable it by clicking "Disable".
