NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – According to a recent scientific study conducted by Canadian researchers at the University of Toronto, the risk of heart attack increases by 600% in less than a week.
According to the US medical website "MedicalXpress", doctors explained that the discovery that the flu was linked to heart attacks offered researchers and doctors a new challenge in the treatment of patients suffering from heart disease.
The researchers noted that something as simple as an influenza vaccine can provide a shot of a protective heart attack.
In this context, researchers from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and Disease Examinations in Taiwan reviewed the medical records of 80,000 patients over the age of 13 and found that the annual flu shot reduced 20% risk of heart attack and offered similar protection.
The researchers also found that flu vaccinated patients were 27% less likely to be hospitalized for heart failure complications.
It should be noted that a study conducted in 2017 and published in the Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases showed that even when influenza vaccination failed in the prevention of influenza, the intensity of the infection was lower and fewer complications.
