MUNICH, Germany (Reuters) – Aren Ruppin and Robert Levandowski have scored two goals to give Bayern Munich a 5-1 home win against Benfica and reach the Champions League on Tuesday, relieving coach Niko Kovac.

Kovac could retain his post several days after Bayern's best performance of the season.

Speculation about the future of the Croatian coach took place after Bayern fell to fifth place in the championship, but Robin's double doubled the twilight at the Aliantes Arena.

The 34-year-old Dutchman, who is in his 10th season with the German champions and perhaps even the latter, opened the scoring by leaping right and entering the penalty area in the 13th minute.

The goal came in the usual way that terrified the guards for over 15 years and was repeated in the 30th minute to give a 2-0 home lead.

Lefandowski scored his 50th goal in the Champions League with a header that gave the goal inside to give Bayern, who twice doubled the total of two goals for a 3-3 draw with Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday, a comfortable lead in the first half.

Gidson Fernandez shook Bayern a minute after the start of the second period, but the owner did not fall this time.

Lefandowski, who became the seventh player to reach 50 goals in the tournament, took the lead with another header before Franck Ribery finished the five by eight meters in the 76th minute.

Bayern leads Group E with 13 points, but will wait for Ajax Amsterdam on 12 December to take the lead, with the Dutch two points behind a 2-0 win over their host, AEK Athens.
