Cairo – The 12th Cairo International Animation Exhibition opened Thursday with the screening of the film "The Tower" by Norwegian director Mats Gurd.

The film is a joint production of Norway, Sweden and France lasting 74 minutes. He has already participated in Arab and international festivals, including the Cairo International Film Festival at its fortieth session.

The film tells the story of the girl who lives in the Burj al-Barajneh refugee camp in Lebanon and who is very attached to her grandfather, who is about to leave the house, but who keeps to hand over the key to the house that he forcibly left, a child of his family in 1948. The twelfth session of the Cairo International Animation Forum, organized by the Cultural Development Fund of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Egyptian Animation Society, will bring together 135 works from 20 countries.

The program, which runs until March 1, will also feature specialized workshops led by Kenyan writer, director and producer, Kwame Nyungu.

The activities and activities of the forum will be held at the Center for Artistic Creativity of the Opera, at the Hanager Cinema and at the Talaat Harb Cultural Center in downtown Cairo, in addition to the cultural palaces of most Egyptian governorates.

"This year, we received about 150 nominations, including student films, series, short films and feature films, to participate in six competitions," said Rachida Abdel Raouf El Shafie, president of the company Egyptian animation, during the opening ceremony.
