Thani Thani bin Ahmed, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, announced the adoption by the United Arab Emirates of new financial contributions to support the projects of the Higher Institute of Green Growth, of $ 4.5 million for the next three years.
The announcement was made during a visit to the country by a representative of the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, who attended the meetings of the Higher Institute of Green Growth. which was held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, on October 30th and 31st.
In his speech, Mr. Al-Zuwaidi highlighted the UAE's concern to build a green economy, noting that the country's wise leaders would adopt the 2030 National Green Agenda in 2015 to find bases and mechanisms practices to put this system in place.
In 2017 and 2018, the UAE has made significant progress in implementing the program and key related policy developments through cooperation and coordination with the Office of the Global Institute of Green Growth in Abu Dhabi .
In his speech, the Minister reviewed the 2050 National Climate Change Plan, launched in 2017, which integrates climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives into a single integrated framework, highlighting the role played by the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, conducting a comprehensive climate risk assessment in four key sectors. The state understands the health, energy, infrastructure and environment through which priority climate change risks are identified and the nature of the important steps to be taken to achieve adaptation.
Al Zuwaidi said the ministry will release a comprehensive report on the assessment, its requirements and recommendations in the coming years. His Excellency announced the United Arab Emirates' contribution of $ 4.5 million for the years 2019 to 2021, at a rate of $ 1.5 million per year for projects to be carried out by the Global Green Growth Institute to continue efforts in this domain.
