British authorities on Thursday arrested a French citizen after climbing one of London's tallest buildings.

According to the Russian news agency Sputnik, the Frenchman Alan Robert, at a height of 662 meters, climbed the Heron Tower without ropes or safety equipment, which prompted the police to surround the building, to block roads and disperse places.

Robert, known as the French Spider-Man, has already climbed many tall buildings in the world, almost without rope or belt, without official permission.

"I feel completely alive when my life is at stake," Robert told reporters. "It may sound scary and a little crazy, but it's my way of doing things."

Robert, 56, was arrested for "public disorder," police said.
