A new update from WattsApp, scheduled for Nov. 12, could erase old chat, photo and video files on Android devices, the chip's website said. Store the backup files before this date so you do not lose them.

Talks application backups will no longer be counted in the future from the limited storage space available on Google Drive. To date, the backup of the chat application, used by nearly 1.5 billion people worldwide, occupies 15% of Google Drive's free storage space for a free Google Account. However, the frequent use of WattsUp very quickly increases the size of these backups by several gigabytes, especially if the user is active in the exchange of images and videos.

The ability to back up WattsApp backups to Google Drive storage is a result of a collaboration between WattsApp and Google Inc. The update is scheduled to take effect Nov. 12. This will allow additional storage space for mobile user files.

But it's not so easy. The German software and application site Chip said that Android users should check their backup files before November 12, otherwise they could lose data. The site reveals that backups that have not occurred more than a year will be automatically removed from Google's servers.

To avoid losing it, the experts on the German site recommend that the backup be done manually and uploaded to the Google Drive account by the specified date so that existing backup files are updated and protected from scheduled automatic deletion. This will allow users to keep their old chat files, photos, and videos.

The manual retention method is simple: To download a copy of the WattsApp backup files to the Google Drive service, you must first open the WattsApp settings. Navigate to the discussion item and select a backup item. Here you can also determine whether you should also back up your video files. With the Backup item, you can create backup files and upload them to the Google Drive service.
