A cooperation agreement announced this summer between the two German manufacturers, Volkswagen and Ford, is expected to grow considerably, a report said yesterday.
According to the business daily Handelsblatt, in addition to cooperation in service vehicles – as previously announced – the two giant companies are planning to strengthen their capabilities in the field of cars and electric vehicles.
Handelsblatt said the two companies could provide billions of dollars working together and that the discussions had progressed well so far.
Volkswagen sources said such projects were under consideration. They stated that it was possible for partners to share their experiences in engine technology and driving to electric power, as part of other areas of cooperation.
On the other hand, a spokeswoman for "Ford" said that the alliance with "Volkswagen" covered several areas and that it was too early to disclose more details.
The two companies announced last June that they would create strategic partnership capabilities to reduce development and production costs. Berlin (dpa)
