Dubai Design District Launches "Let's Design for Good" to Support Social Change

Dubai Design District announced the launch of the project "Let's Design for Good" to promote coherence in the design community through a creative collaboration that supports and promotes social change in the UAE. The project has three main pillars, "Design for Spaces", which aims to prioritize design solutions that encourage creativity and collaboration in public environments and "sustainable design" and states that design solutions should increase the value long-term economic, social and environmental And "Design for Empowerment", which states that the design solutions provided must be activated The man defies existing perceptions.
Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, General Manager of the Dubai Design District, said, "Design offers solutions to a variety of issues and with the power of design, we can have a positive impact on communities of all kinds. The Dubai Design District, which will launch the "Let's Design for Good" initiative, builds on these fundamentals, noting that such events will make the local design community an active community to support and encourage social change.

Two projects will be launched sometime in the year 2018, entitled "The Network", a collaboration between the Fatima Bint Initiative Mohammed Bin Zayed and Emirati designer Rawda Al Shamsi, who designed three structures shade for the Dubai district. This product will be produced by Afghan women as part of the Fatima Bint Mohammed Bin Zayed project, which will be used to educate women and help them develop and improve their skills. The three structures will be exhibited during Dubai Design Week in November 2018 and definitely in the Dubai Design District.

In the second "Design 100" project, Dubai Design District invited designers from all over the United Arab Emirates to design a piece of furniture or a functional tool, selecting the winning piece, of which 100 pieces will be produced in partnership with Dubai.
