NEW YORK (Reuters) – Crude oil inventories in the United States rose last week, while gasoline and distillate inventories fell, the US Energy Information Administration announced on Wednesday.
Crude inventories rose 3.2 million barrels last week, while analysts forecast an increase of 4.1 million barrels.
The US Energy Information Administration announced that crude oil inventories at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery center had increased 1.9 million barrels.
The data from the administration showed that the consumption of crude oil refineries increased by 149,000 barrels a day. Refinery utilization rates increased 0.2 percentage points.
Gasoline inventories fell by 3.2 million barrels, while analysts announced in a Reuters poll a decline of 2.1 million barrels.
Inventories of distillates, including diesel and fuel oil, also declined by 4.1 million barrels, while 1.4 million barrels are expected to fall.
US crude oil imports fell 639,000 barrels a day last week.
