SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korean defender Gang Hyun-soo no longer has the right to represent the country's football team for life and has been fined 30 million won (26,000 yuan). $) for defrauding records of military service exemptions.

All capable men in South Korea must spend about two years in military service, but athletes can get an exemption if they win an Olympic medal or a gold medal at the Asian Games.

In case of exemption, you have to spend four weeks in a training camp and more than 500 hours of community service over three years.

Gang, who played 58 international games and won the Asian Games in 2014, admitted to providing fake records of the number of hours of community service.

The South Korean football federation reunited on Thursday and decided to punish the 27-year-old who played in all three World Cup matches.

"Gang was definitely banned from playing for the national team, in addition to a fine of 30 million won," said Thursday a spokesman for the Korean Football Federation.

The Asian Cup in the UAE will be missed early next year.
