The suicide letter written by the French poet Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) was sold for 230,000 euros at an auction held Sunday by the Osina auction house, where the competition for possession was to 3 times the estimated price between 60 and 80 000 EUR, and now become the property of a collector of French antiques.
The letter dates from 1845, when Baudelaire sent it to his mistress Jane Duval to inform him of his decision to commit suicide.
