The former president of Barcelona, Juan Laporta, announced Tuesday that he was planning to run for the Catalan team in the 2021 elections.
"I intend to return, but I have not yet made my decision," said Laporta at a conference in Beijing organized by the US Chamber of Commerce in China.
"They leave the team on the brink of bankruptcy," he said in response to a question about his vision of the current administration of Barcelona, led by Josep Maria Bartomio, who l? defeated in the 2015 elections.
They do not like transparency and need to improve this problem, "Laporta said.
"The level of wages and incomes is very high, they leave the club on the brink of bankruptcy and it is very dangerous," said the former president.
"They run the club through opinion polls and, in my opinion, they do not have a clear example of club management," Laporta said.
The former president criticized the leadership of the team in terms of contracts, some of which have been described as "ridiculous and unnecessary investments", as well as the development of players in the youth sector.
Laporta stressed the need to "restructure the Academy (La Massia) to produce players who could be stars in the future".
