The International Federation of History and Statistics of Football (IFFHS) has awarded the world player of the year to the Croatian Luka Modric and the best goalkeeper of the Belgian Typo Kurtua.
The Real Madrid midfielder won 272 points, 128 more than Barcelona striker Lionel Messi, who came second after winning the trophy in the last three years.
The names of the winners were determined by a vote of football experts from 90 countries.
Modric is crowned with this award after winning both the UEFA Player of the Year award and the "Best" FIFA award. He is currently one of the leading candidates for the 2018 Gold Ball.
In second place, Belgian Eddin Hazard finished third with 114 points, followed by Frenchman Kevin De Bruin (36th), Neymar (18) and Frenchman Paul Pogba (14th).
Denmark's Christian Eriksen was seventh, followed by Bosnian Miralim Pianic (eighth), followed by Colombian Khamis Rodriguez with the same number of points.
Cortois is the third Belgian goalkeeper to receive this award, after Jean-Marie Fav (1986) and Michel Prudhomme (1994), in the case of Modric, crowned after receiving the "best" in the category of goalkeepers .
France's Hugo Lauris was second at 109, followed by fourth-seeded Gianluigi Buffon (59), Kellor Navas (58) and Stanovian Jan Oplak (49). Andre Terje Stegen sixth with the same number of points.
Alesson Becker (36) finished seventh, followed by Spanish David Dejaia (33), Daniel Sobacic (23) and Manuel Noir (20), respectively, in the top three.
