The idea of visiting the US NASA space agency has not left Bali since it started offering the 4Tech program six years ago. As one of those who love space science, and on the other hand I have duty to 4Tech enthusiasts to visit one of the most sophisticated places in the world.
In December 2017, I sent the first email to the agency's public relations department. A few days later, I received an answer by appointment and a person to follow my request.
After four months of discussions, it was agreed that five themes would be filmed in June 2018, most of them related to techniques on climate pollution, global warming and some space observatories used. So, the task of discovering life on Mars.
The flight now had a security clearance allowing foreigners to enter NASA headquarters. After getting a positive response, I had to take short courses on the Internet for hours, including information about the seat I will be visiting and about the use of the Internet. For fear of being the victim of hackers who target visitors to giant companies around the world!
The Goddard Center was our first place where I found a companion from NASA who was waiting for me. He had to be my companion in all the places where I moved a moment in a moment! And if he wants to leave for any reason, he must receive other facilities!
The Langley center, which we needed to drive for three hours, was harder because it had an air base where I had no right to keep my cell phone and my PC while filming at home.
The experience is different from the hundreds of places I've filmed in the 4Tech program, but it's well worth it. You can see the reports several weeks later on the 4Tech episodes, which are shown every Saturday at 17:30 GMT.
