Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness has announced that he will leave his post in two or three years after joining the Bavarian club since 1970.

On Thursday, Hoeness told Dresden that he had spent a few days at Bayern and that he was looking for an alternative.

"I will do this job for two or three years and I wish to entrust my successor to a full (financial) portfolio," said Hoeness, whose term expired in November 2019. "

"You must have a human touch and a spherical bottom, we must have a young man who has all the qualities, it will not be easy."

Hoeness retired from football in 1979 at age 27. He was appointed Athletic Director in 2002, and took office in 2009. He resigned after being incarcerated for tax evasion in 2014, before returning in November 2016.

Bayern, which is in the last six years, has taken a relatively slow start in third place, four points from Dortmund on Saturday.
