The network will separate some Iranian banks from its system early next week, said Swiss-based Swiss-based financial messaging network director SWIFT at an event in Paris.
Earlier in the week, Mr. Swift had announced that he would suspend the arrival of unspecified Iranian banks in his messaging system in order to maintain the stability and integrity of the global financial system.
In a brief statement earlier this week, Mr. Swift did not mention the US sanctions that were reimposed Monday at some Iranian financial institutions as part of US President Donald Trump's efforts to force Iran to limit its nuclear activities, missiles and regional activities.
Bian Swift said the suspension of Iranian banks' access to the courier system was "unfortunate" but "taken in the interest of the stability and integrity of the global financial system".
