A commemorative plaque for Apollo 11 was sold on the moon and reported in 1969 at $ 468,500 at an auction in Texas.
The painting comes from the group of American astronaut Neil Armstrong, carrying the design of the vehicle that landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. When the trip returned to Earth, the painting was placed on a wooden substrate and handing over to Nell Armstrong.
Each of his partners, Paz Aldrin, who immediately followed the vehicle to the moon, and Michael Collins, who was in the orbital plane of origin, received a plaque similar.
The price of the painting in this auction was higher than the price of the American flag that was on the trip ($ 275,000), but changed the raised flag on the moon.
