Djokovic takes the lead from Nadal
November 4 (Reuters) – Novak Djokovic is out of the Spanish tennis league Rafael Nadal on Sunday, despite Sunday's defeat of the Paris Masters final against Karen Khatanov of Russia, who won the most important title of his career in the French capital.
This is the first time that the Serbian star has taken the lead in the world since November 2016, when Nadal fell to second place and Roger Federer, who lost to Djokovic in the semi-finals of Paris, remained third.
Djokovic has scored 22 victories since the month of August, including the US Open, US Cincinnati and the Shanghai Chinese Masters at 1,000 points, before ending up in the Paris final on Sunday.
The Serb, aged 31, has been assured since last week of a return to the top, given the withdrawal of Nadal from the Paris tournament due to injury, before playing his first game.
