US stocks opened higher, as retail stocks strengthened under the optimism of the end – of – year holidays, as the tech sector recovered after a sharp drop last week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average <.DJI> rose 78.18 points, or 0.32%, to 24,364.13.
The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 17.41 points, or 0.66%, to 2,649.97.
The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 87.51 points, or 1.26%, to close at 7026.50 points.
